Pork Belly Skewers
These Sticky Sesame Pork Belly Skewers are a tasty and easy-to-make dish. Tender pork belly cubes are marinated, skewered, and grilled to perfection for a sweet and savory flavor. Perfect for impressing guests at a BBQ or any occasion!
Ingredients
- 1 kg pork belly, rind removed and cut into cubes
- 60 ml light soy sauce
- 60 ml cooking sake
- 30 g Rub & Grub Sticky Sesame Seasoning
- 30 ml ketchup manis (sweet soy sauce)
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the light soy sauce, cooking sake, Rub & Grub Sticky Sesame Seasoning, and ketchup manis. Mix well to make the marinade.
- Add the pork belly cubes to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover the bowl with cling film and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Pre-heat your BBQ for medium-high heat direct cooking. We used a Weber Go-Anywhere BBQ with a Rub & Grub GA Hibachi / Yakitori Mesh Cooking Grate.
- Thread the marinated pork belly cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers and place them directly on the BBQ.
- Cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the pork is cooked through and golden brown.
- Brush the skewers with any remaining marinade during the cooking process for extra flavour and stickiness.
- Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the skewers with a side pickled cucumber salad and steamed rice. Enjoy!
